For example, Harry's gaming netlets will use an SMS messaging service to reach people on mobile phones. But he might not use the service directly and go instead through a brokering service. His netlets send messages as usual, but the control of which SMS service provider is used lies with a third party.
This trusted broker can make deals with SMS service providers across the world and obtain warrants to use their services. Harry can go to the broker for SMS services. The broker gives Harry warrants for their brokering service which Harry then uses: all Harry's SMS usage goes via the broker, who uses their own warrants for their selected providers.
One day Harry's brokerage company may decide that Sammy's SMS Boutique no longer offers great service at unbeatable prices, and want to shift everything to their competitor. This can be managed through their own central management service, without informing Harry's netlets--the company could use a graphical interface on their desktop PCs.
Brokering services give Harry third party accounting and auditing.
